Many brokers earn money by underwriting Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and structuring private placements or other kinds of financings. They publish research studies about the issuers to present the companies positively and to find investors interested in buying the issuers’ equity.
Through this dependent relationship between the money earned by the brokers and the content of their research, lack of independence affects the quality of the research. The analysts are paid by their employers, the brokers, to write studies about their clients. Since many new companies are overvalued on their IPOs, their prices may decline in the months following the IPO or listing.
This will not happen with us.
